FAQ
Question | Answer |
---|---|
Do I get volunteer hours? | Yes, you get volunteer hours. Just make sure to follow up with an email explaining how your school's volunteer hour system works and how Codeigy can provide them to you. In your email be sure to include all information required to provide it, along with how many hours (be reasonable). |
How long is my course supposed to be? | Anywhere from 1 day to 2 weeks, however long you see fit to teach your course material. |
Do I choose the topic? | Yes, you host a bootcamp on a topic of your choice even if it has already been done in the past on Codeigy. |
What topics can I teach? | Anything related to the field of technology! You can teach programming languages, frameworks, topics like AI/ML, how to use hardware like Arduino, or even have a project based course on how to make something. |
How many students should I have? | At the bare minimum, 2. |
How do my students sign up? | Codeigy will create a new event in the Upcoming Events tab on the website and students can sign up there. |
How will people get to know about my course? | Your course will be included in the Codeigy newsletter, on the Codeigy website, and shared on social media. Share your course with your friends, and family! |
How old do I have to be to teach? | There is no age limit or requirement for teaching a course. |
Can I teach with a friend/co-teacher? | Yes, just be sure to add their name in the instructor form. |
How much expertise am I required to have in the topic I will teach? | Enough to have sufficient course material and be able to answer live questions. |
What platform do I use to host course lectures? | You may use Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, Discord, anything you like! |
Can I set a fee for the bootcamp? | It is highly encouraged for the course to be completely free of cost. Setting a paywall will likely turn away students. We want courses to be available for students of all demographics and not to be required to pay for an education. |
Can I ask for a donation? | Yes, as long as it is not an obligation. |
Can I make multiple courses? | Of course! |
How should I organize course content for my students? | It is recommended to provide students with course material to work on in and out of class, provide them with a reference sheet (i.e Google Doc), and be open to answer questions after class. Make sure course content increases in difficulty over the days and builds on what was taught the day before. |
